Founded in 2016, GHI aims to fulfill Children’s National Hospital’s core value of “caring for ALL children” by improving pediatric health outcomes around the world while enriching the experiences of Children’s National Staff. GHI provides a platform within Children’s National for concerted oversight of health education and research projects involving both experienced faculty and emerging leaders in global health.
GHI supports Children’s National’s pediatric experts in providing clinical excellence at home and abroad while addressing the world’s most pressing pediatric health issues.

To improve health outcomes and equity among children and adolescents globally through transdisciplinary research and innovation, bidirectional education and training, sustainable capacity building partnerships, and advocacy for health policy transformation.
In partnership with its collaborators around the world, GHI differentiates itself from other services at Children’s National by filling a critical gap between Global Services activities, which bring paying patients to Children’s National, and volunteer humanitarian missions that staff carry out on vacation time independently of their duties at Children’s National.
