This session will feature a discussion about careers in global health led by senior program specialists at USAID and Children’s National researchers and providers with extensive experience in global health.
Troy Jacobs, MD, MPH, FACP
Dr. Jacobs serves as adjunct faculty in the department of Pediatrics at Children’s National and George Washington University School of Medicine, as well as Senior Medical Advisor for pediatrics in the Office of Maternal-Child Health (MCH) & Nutrition at USAID’s Global Health Bureau; a position he has held for more than 10 years. His focus areas are primary care quality improvement, implementation science, and capacity building related to MCH. His global work is mostly concentrated in East Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda). As a practicing pediatrician, he continues improving the health ofpoor and vulnerable children globally and locally. He is an active member of AAP’s International Child Health Section and APA’s International Health SIG.
Meena Srivastava, DO, MPH
Meena Srivastava is a Medical Officer in the Pediatric Maternal Clinical Branch with USAID in Washington, DC. After completing her pediatric residency at INOVA Fairfax Hospital for Children, she worked with Baylor Lesotho from 2008-2012 as a Pediatric HIV Clinical Advisor and has been with USAID since 2014, first as a Pediatric HIV Advisor in Mozambique and then in her current role at headquarters since 2015. Her areas of focus include Pediatric HIV testing, Pediatric/ Orphan and Vulnerable Children collaboration and reaching Children of Key Populations and her countries of focus are Tanzania, India, Indonesia and Nepal.
