Kelsey Brown, MD, a Pediatric Cargiology Fellow was awarded a Global Health Initiative Pilot Award in 2023. With this award, Dr. Brown has been researching the use of artificial intelligence for improving screening for rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in Ugandan children. Dr. Brown recently published her results with mentors Dr. Craig Sable, Interim Division Chief of Cardiology, and Dr. Marius Linguraru of the Sheikh Zayed Institute at Children’s National in the Journal of the American Heart Association (JAHA). Drs. Brown, Sable, and Linguraru were interviewed by the Washington Post and their work was featured on the print newspaper’s front page!
