Dr. Ante Wind is a pediatric hospitalist at the National Institutes of Health where she manages the care of clinically complex patients with rare diseases requiring cardiorespiratory monitoring who are undergoing medical treatment under research protocols. Dr. Wind is additionally a pediatrician at Unity Health Care in Upper Cardozo where she cares for a primary patient population of underserved youth including newly arrived immigrants and refugees in the outpatient setting. Prior to these positions, Dr. Wind was a pediatrician for Doctors Without Borders, completing rotations in Switzerland, South Sudan, Niger, Tanzania, Honduras, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Haiti.
Session Objectives:
- Describe the epidemiology of global pediatric TB disease and how this contributes to the diagnosis of clinical TB disease and high burden settings
- Identify current TB diagnostics and their limitations for pediatric TB disease
- Understand how to evaluate for and make a clinical diagnosis of pediatric TB disease in resource limited and resource rich settings
- Describe the public health approach to TB prevention and new options for TB preventative therapy
